Rajeev Gowda is currently a Member of the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of India's Parliament and a National Spokesperson for the Indian National Congress party. This seminar will focus on discussing how the Parliament in India has been functioning in the recent years, especially in the light of the new government's assumption of power.
Prior to joining the Parliament, Dr. Gowda served as the Chairperson of the Center for Public Policy at the Indian Institute of Management, Director of the Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India, and Associate Professor at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Gowda holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Management from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and has been an Olin Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of California Berkeley and a Carnegie Council Global Ethics Fellow. His most recent co-edited book is titled India's Risks: Democratizing the Management of Threats to Environment, Health, and Values (Oxford University Press, 2014).
